The HVAC technician programs at DTC are taught by instructors with real-world experience in the industry. Through hands-on training, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge you need to excel professionally as an HVAC/R technician and become proficient with the latest HVAC/R technology.
To obtain HVAC certification, students are also required to take and pass EPA Section 608 Core Type I and Type II certification exams.

HVAC R technicians service heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration (HVAC R) systems, which control the temperature and air quality of buildings. Some HVAC techs also specialize in certain categories, such as solar technology, radiant heating, or commercial refrigeration.

WHAT DOES AN HVAC/R TECHNICIAN DO?
The duties of an HVAC technician depend on industry, position, and specialty. Yet, most HVAC technicians will perform a variety of tasks that cover technical, administrative, and customer-service-related areas of the job.
This can include installing, cleaning, and maintaining HVAC R systems, installing electrical components and wiring, repairing or replacing defective equipment, components, or wiring, and more.

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE HVAC TECHNICIAN SALARY?
The BLS reports that the median annual wage for HVAC/R technicians (as of May 2023) was $57,300. Additionally, the highest 10% earned more than $84,250.

WHERE CAN I WORK AS AN HVAC/R TECHNICIAN?
HVAC/R technicians typically have a variety of different work environments, which means there’s typically a lot of job variety from day-to-day. The BLS reports that HVAC/R technicians primarily work in homes, schools, stores, hospitals, office buildings, or factory settings.
ARE HVAC/R TECHNICIANS IN DEMAND?
The BLS forecasts the HVAC job outlook will grow by 9% from 2023 to 2033.
