HORN LAKE, MS – After twenty-plus years in operation and two generations of family working to continue our mission to drive the future of the skilled trades through hands-on training, Delta Technical College is proud to announce the grand opening of our new Horn Lake, Mississippi campus location. Delta Tech opened its original campus location in Southaven, MS prior to its move to Horn Lake, and has been providing career training in the Memphis area for 15 years.
It was a family affair, as CEO Brian Huff and Co-Founder Mike Casper worked alongside their sons, Cole Huff (Business Development Coordinator at sister school Midwest Technical Institute) and Bowen Casper (Welding Instructor at MTI). The father/son duos put their welding skills to work for a day during the construction of the campus building, including the new welding lab, which is one of nine total labs located within the campus.
“24 years ago, we started a welding school called Midwest School of Welding and Fabrication in the little town of Lincoln, Illinois, and now here we are, with six campus locations across the Midwest and Mississippi. This new facility gives us expanded lab and classroom space, as well as allows us to bring all of our training to one location. I’m a product of the thinking that every job is a good job, and every job is an opportunity. We want to keep providing these opportunities to students who want to further their education and pursue a career in the trades. It’s been an amazing journey and we’re really excited about how far we can take this,” said Brian Huff, CEO and Co-Founder.
Delta Tech’s new 50,000 square foot facility houses hands-on training programs in welding, HVAC/R, electrician, truck driving, cosmetology and allied health, including medical assisting, dental assisting and medical coding. Delta Tech is committed to providing workforce training to the greater Memphis area that will equip graduates with the skills they need to gain entry-level employment in their chosen skilled trades profession.
Horn Lake’s Campus President Tom Pullin knows the importance of an education in the trades-he is a graduate of the Welding and HVAC/R Technician Programs.
“The community has entrusted us to be here, and to train their children, grandchildren and future generations in the trades. Without the trades, we wouldn’t have been able to build this building here today. We were at max capacity in the previous building, and now we will be able to accommodate more than 500 students at a time. Most of our programs and courses can be completed in less than a year, so we will be able to help students enter the workforce sooner. Brian and team have had a vision for Delta Tech, and I am so thankful to be a part of this mission to offer training in the trades, because I know firsthand how valuable it is,” – Tom Pullin, Horn Lake Campus President.
Join Campus President Tom Pullin, CEO Brian Huff, and Co-Founder Mike Casper, as well as other members of Delta Tech’s staff and faculty on Monday, September 16, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 6530 Interstate Boulevard in Horn Lake, to experience firsthand Delta Tech’s commitment to help meet local employers’ demand for skilled laborers through hands-on training.
Horn Lake and Southaven Chamber members, representatives from the Horn Lake Mayor’s office and the office of Congressman Trent Kelly of the First District of Mississippi, as well as several local business leaders are anticipated to be in attendance to show their public support of Delta Tech’s workforce training and the skilled trades industry.
